Mrs. Ashley Mark is the preschool teacher at St. Mary’s Child Development Center. In the preschool room she works on the development of social skills, fine motor skills, the alphabet, shapes, colors, numbers, days of the week, and months of the year. Learning in this classroom takes place through song and activity, using a hands-on approach.
Mrs. Mark received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Teaching Certificate from Oakland Univ. She also has 6 years of experience teaching Sunday school, has been a station leader at Vacation Bible School, and has 3 years of additional experience working in both a childcare, and school setting, with children ages 0-12.
Her philosophy of education for young children is that they grow into a love of learning, and discovery through a variety of means. Also, that during this developmental time, they have exposure to written material to help develop their literacy skills.Mrs. Mark feels that Christian schooling is beneficial. She loves the fact that children are not only getting Biblical instruction on Sundays, but also getting this instruction on a daily basis in school. She feels that Christ should be present in school, whether public or private, but in a private school, it is a guarantee. This fundamental learning of the Bible in a Christian school helps pave the way for a foundational life in Christ.
